Nov 22, 2008 · Wind over 20 mph ducks will sit still. Ducks will land into wind true to a degree, but fly with wind upon morning flight. So when you set up remember, wind at your back they will be at your back first most often before they turn to come in for a landing.

Oct 20, 2023 · If you keep your shots under 30 yards you should be golden with just about any steel 4 or 3 shot on the market. Steel 3s are a better all around shot size for big ducks in my opinion. Out to 40 yards I'd say steel 3 shot maybe even 2s for big ducks later in the season. Honestly I don't like steel 4s for big ducks and find 3s to be a better option.

Jan 13, 2025 · A and very few geese. They either kept going past to south arkansas or they are holed up on the missouri and Platte rivers. The least ducks I've seen out there in the past 25 years. Hearing some rumors about a guy just south of big lake that has bought up close to 10,000 acres to farm for ducks. Has a huge refuge of his own.

Jan 20, 2025 · Sure, they have policies about inclement weather but at what point can’t common sense prevail?! Weather too shitty to hunt ducks?! GTFO of here. We were scheduled for Murphy Island after getting cancelled at Santee Delta last year due to flooding of the dikes or some such. So yep - cancelled 2 years straight.

Jan 13, 2025 · Hunted south east missouri and northeast arkansas for 6 days last week. First two days were decent. Thursday Friday and Saturday were pitiful. My local friends and I thought with the snow coming Friday some ducks would push in. Not the case. It got worse. We saw maybe 25 Friday in the snow and 7 Saturday morning.

Dec 15, 2011 · Teal is my favorite also. then gadwalls, then mallards. My wife frys all the duck meat. I hunt deer,turkey and ducks and she cooks it all the same way. She just breads it with flour and then throw it in the skillet add salt and pepper thats it. I was told not to eat diver ducks but sounds like there a few to try. Thanks everyone.

Good luck ps, if you have 600 bucks to blow they make things called ice eaters to keep ponds open, cabelas has them and alot of landscaping pond supply stores have them. personally being in college i didnt have that kind of money to blow

Friday started slow as we were trying to figure them out and finished with 2 Found a spot off the interstate with a ton of birds Friday evening. Got a late start Saturday at 1030. It was 32 and dumping rain.
