Ableton is pretty great, but Bitwig has some really fresh approaches, and feels faster to implement your ideas. I'm pretty convinced that Bitwig will really pull ahead in the coming years, because they aren't bogged down by architecture choices that seem to prevent some other DAWs from doing what Bitwig does so easily.

Bitwig can import Ableton projects if you're ok with replacing all of the sounds, and there's a great controller script that lets you use a Push with Bitwig, but it's nowhere near as seamless as using all of those things with Ableton. I went from Ableton to Bitwig and then back to Ableton.

There are so many things that I love about Bitwig but the main difference for me is that Bitwig feels like it's been developed with a consistent design philosophy, whereas FL feels like a million different features thrown at a wall with no regard for how the pieces fit together.

Aug 9, 2022 · Session mode is a very nice feature for playing around or starting songs and the FL equivalent is complete garbage. I also prefer the highly modular design of Bitwig compared to the gigantic box of tools approach in FL. If you record audio, Bitwig is easier and the composing features are nicer to work with.

Bitwig plugins tend to be on individual instruments only because theyre lightweight and modulate easily, everything bus forward is some kind of analog or console emulation.

Unfortunately Bitwig forums people only will tell how bitwig is great. On bitwig forums it is prohibited to say anything other then "what a great update". Otherwise you will be hated an abused. It is not accepted to constructively criticize bitwig. Community always hate you if you say there is a lot of bugs (it is) and a lot of missing QoL.
