Ice Age In Illinois! Did you know a sheet of ice a mile thick once covered Rockford?! Burpee’s Pleistocene exhibit is a walk back in time to learn how huge masses of slowly moving ice, called glaciers, carved out the landscape we see today.

The sights and sounds of the Pleistocene transport you back in time as you discover what the region looked and felt like over 23,000 years ago. Walk through a chilling ice cave and explore a trail surrounded by the plants and animals of the Ice Age.

This awesome menagerie is presented by continent – giant kangaroos and marsupial lions from Australia, giant lemurs from Madagascar, woolly rhinos from Europe, North American giant beavers and mastodons, and many more.
