Jul 23, 2015 · Mine is an early Modulus flea bass with the coveted Lane Poor pickup. Serial # begins with 96. Modulus informed me it was assembled in Jan.97. This bass cuts really well, even with old strings. Ive owned a few stingrays and the flea cuts through better to me, although the low end isnt quite as much as the musicman.

Dec 27, 2023 · The necks on those are really nice. The necks on the Geddy basses are somewhat thinner than your Flea bass. You may or may not like the difference and the only way to find out is to go play whatever is available. While the Flea bass is certainly well made I don't think it's that much better than an MIA Geddy.

I didn't think much more about it after that. But I was scrolling through Reddit the other day and came across this thread. Apr 13, 2015 · Flea's 'tone' is actually fairly variable, due to the different basses he's used throughout the albums. I think any nickel wound strings will do, and the way to get his slap tone is to just work hard on nailing his lines and feel.
