Aug 25, 2021 · What are the standard dimensions for wooden cable reels? The answer's not so simple. Here's a range of specifications for wire and cable packaging.

Dimensions: Reel sizes range from 20” to 96” in diameter. Wooden flange thicknesses typically range from 1 ½” to 3″, with options up to 4”. There are four standard series of delivery reels: Small polymer reels for fiber cords. The F26 reel has a capacity of 4000 m of 900 μm fiber cord. The spindle bore diameter is 25 mm. Reels series S are mainly made of polypropylene. The spindle bore size depend on the reel size, see table 1.

Selection of proper reel (spool) size depends on the length and overall diameter (O.D.) of the cable or wire to be rewound. A reel not matched to the weight of the cable wound on it may be damaged during shipment. All wire and cable has a minimum safe bending radius.

Total Drum Storage Capacity: Maximum length of wire rope that can be tightly and evenly wound onto a drum. Length is calculated to the top of the drum flange minus selected freeboard (i.e. clearance) .
