High winds Tuesday evening fueled a fast-moving brush fire in the Altadena/Pasadena area that was burning 400 acres as of 8:15 p.m. The Eaton fire was reported at 6:23 p.m., near Altadena Drive and Midwick Drive in the Eaton Canyon area, according to Cal Fire.

The Eaton Fire, which has consumed about 1,000 acres of vegetation since igniting Tuesday evening, continues to burn east and is heading into Sierra Madre, where at least one home was destroyed by the flames.
