Localized flooding and strong wind gusts will be the predominant threats Sunday—but some rotation can’t be ruled out

The EF2 tornado that hit Phelps on Monday was the strongest in New York this year, according to the National Weather Service. Winds reached 115 mph, damaging homes and a barn, but the storm went undetected by radar due to a coverage blind spot.

A line of severe thunderstorms crossed the border and made a mess in southwestern Ontario on Saturday, blocking streets with downed trees and knocking out power to thousands. The storms pushed through Windsor around 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. local time, arriving with strong wind gusts and heavy rainfall.
