A late comeback effort in the ninth inning fell one run short as No. 3 LSU suffered its first loss of the season to Omaha on Saturday. The Tigers were held scoreless until the final inning, when they reeled off four runs before Steven Milam hit a fly ball to center field that was caught to end the game 5-4 in favor of the Mavericks.

LSU was able to put the game-tying run at third and the go-ahead run at first with one out. But Larson struck out and sophomore Steven Milam flew out to center field to end the comeback bid. The 5-4 loss was LSU's first of the year.
