Aston Villa face a fight to retain the services of Jhon Duran during the January transfer window as interest from PSG is maintained, yet Unai Emery’s side are poised to reinforce their attack.

Jhon Duran will serve a three-game ban after Aston Villa had their appeal against his red card rejected by the Football Association (FA). Duran was sent off during the first half of Villa’s 3-0 defeat at Newcastle United on Boxing Day for a foul on Fabian Schar.

Morgan Rogers insists Jhon Duran showed no malice in the incident which has seen him banned for three matches after being sent off at Newcastle United. Villa lost 3-0 at St James’ Park but were only 1-0 down when referee Anthony Taylor deemed Duran’s 32nd minute contact with Fabian Schar’s back to be worthy of a straight red card.
