Cal Fire downgraded evacuation orders to warnings for the Ranch Place fire burning in East San Jose.

Ranch is California’s second-largest wildfire since January, when fires burned about 50,000 acres in Los Angeles County.

The Ranch Fire grew to more than 4,200 acres in size in a matter of hours on Tuesday, which forced evacuation orders in Apple Valley, law enforcement officials said.

As of the latest March 24 evening update, maps indicated that one fire in Polk County had hopped the Green River. Firefighters from across the nation are responding.
