It was a bitterly cold morning in Minnesota with temperatures and wind chills well below zero. Afternoon highs in the metro on Tuesday will top out around 2 degrees, but it'll feel much colder. The cold is sticking around as a cold weather advisory is in effect for the metro from 9 p.

Highs Monday will stay below zero for most of the state with partly cloudy skies and a northwest breeze at 10-15 mph.

An extreme cold warning has been issued for most of Minnesota as temperatures plunge to dangerous levels. The National Weather Service says that air temperatures will be between -10 and -20 wind chills will drop to between -35 and -45 in much of the state from 1 a.m. and 11 a.m. Monday.

An extreme cold warning will be in effect from 9 p.m. Monday to 10 a.m. Tuesday. Temperatures will plummet to the double digits below zero and wind chills will be even worse.
