LeBron James seems to be growing more and more unhappy with the current trajectory of the Lakers. This could very well mean a trade, in this proposed trade, he pairs up with one of the best big men in the game.
The Los Angeles Lakers have made two moves so far this offseason to bring in outside talent. Rob Pelinka first signed young forward Jake LaRavia and then backed up that move by signing Deandre Ayton. While both pickups will have a chance to make an impact on the Lakers during the 2025-26 season, more work needs to be done.
By giving Hayes more than the veteran minimum, the Lakers now lose access to most of their $5.1 million Biannual Exception due to the first apron cap rules. Even if they waived Shake Milton — who’s taking up $3 million on the books — the math doesn’t change. What’s left now is a veteran minimum contract and a second-round pick exception. That’s it.
