Amazon's FAST service seemed redundant after Amazon launched the Prime Video ad tier in January. With the subscription tier making money from subscription fees and ads shown on Prime Video with ads, it made little sense for Amazon to continue with Freevee, which only has the latter revenue stream.
Amazon to shut down free streaming service Freevee
Amazon will shut down Freevee, its free, advertising-supported streaming service, the company has announced. According to reports, content exclusive to Freevee will be moved to Amazon Prime in the coming weeks. Additionally, new episodes of Freevee-exclusive shows will remain free to watch on Prime Video.
