In the time since his NFL playing career came to an end, Cam Newton has been building his media presence, which he has since parlayed into a reoccurring role on ESPN’s First Take. But this week, the 2015 NFL MVP has found himself the subject of backlash following a controversial interview with Dwight Howard’s ex-girlfriend.

Howard and Reed dated on and off for years in the early 2000s, and were previously entangled in messy headlines and legal battles.

Cam Newton is in the home stretch of Special Forces: World's Toughest Test, and while he would have nothing left to prove if he was kicked off in the final episode, it would be a shame to see him go for something like insubordination.
