Yankees announcer Michael Kay took issue with a comment Juan Soto made this week after the new Mets outfielder was left off of the All-Star Game roster. Speaking to reporters after the news broke, Soto said “it happens,” and it’s “a part of baseball.” He was then asked a follow up question about whether he wanted to play in the game.

Michael Volpe, father of Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe, was caught on video in an expletive-laden confrontation with a Mets fan who was "bad-mouthing" his son.

Despite the mentality of their fanbases and those in the content business, the New York Mets and New York Yankees are not really on-field rivals. It makes for a good storyline since they play just a few miles from each other,

Brian Cashman and David Stearns are on the clock. The lead baseball executives of the Yankees and Mets, respectively, have a lot of work to do as we inch closer to the July 31 trade deadline. Both men owe it to their teams and fan bases to go all-in in the weeks to come.

On Sunday afternoon, the Yankees won. The Mets lost. The result, however, didn’t do much to change the tenor of the weekend for either team. It was a positive three days for the Mets and a concerning trip to Queens for the skidding Yankees.
