Ramirez was injured in a game against the Blue Jays on May 2 at Rogers Centre. In the third inning, he beat out an infield single to pitcher Chris Bassitt. As Ramirez closed in on first base, he was hit in the back by Bassitt’s throw before coming into contact with first baseman Vladimir Guearrero Jr. and tumbling over the bag.

Just last week, the MLB announced that Ramírez was elected to the All-Star game for the seventh time in his career, beating out Alex Bregman with the Boston Red Sox for the starting third baseman position on the American League All-Star team. It was the fourth time he was named to be an All-Star starter.
