LAS VEGAS — The Celtics had a fresh face debuting on their Summer League team Friday night as Charles Bassey was an unexpected late addition to the team’s Summer League roster. The former Spurs big man shined off the bench for Boston, posting 14 points and 11 rebounds in the team’s win over the Grizzlies at Cox Pavilion.
The team's offseason moves, including adding big men Luke Kornet and Kelly Olynyk, have bolstered the rookie's optimism.
LAS VEGAS — The Celtics opened Las Vegas Summer League play with a 92-78 win over the Grizzlies on Friday. First-round pick Hugo Gonzalez tallied 12 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks, and third-year forward Jordan Walsh had 17 points. Center Charles Bassey, a late addition to the roster, added 14 points and 11 rebounds.
This edition continues to focus on the 2021 draft. In an effort to continue building their roster, the Sixers selected big man Charles Bassey with the No. 53 pick out of Western Kentucky. An athletic big man, Bassey worked hard to eventually earn some spot minutes here and there and showed off a lot of potential for the future.
