Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has kicked off a visit to China meant to shore up the countries’ trade relations.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese undertakes a critical visit to China, aiming to bolster trade and improve economic relations. This includes high-level meetings with Chinese leadership and business deals to attract Chinese tourism.

The latest Bureau of Statistics data showed short term visitor arrivals in Australia at 8.5 per cent below 2019 levels, with the market out of China among the slowest to return. In the 12 months to April, New Zealand accounted for 19 per cent of all visitor arrivals followed by China at 12 per cent and the UK at 9 per cent.
