Edinburgh University has warned privileged students not to be ‘snobs’ towards their working-class peers. The university has admitted there is a problem with class-related prejudice on campus, with poorer students “inadvertently or deliberately shamed by more privileged students”.

A guidance has been issued to the wealthier students with a list of actions they need to follow to create an inclusive environment.

The University of Edinburgh has urged wealthy students to avoid "socioeconomic microaggressions" and to treat classmates from poorer backgrounds with respect, after reports of state-educated students being mocked for their accents.
