A local elected official in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, has resigned after coming under fire for a social media post.

A local official in Towamencin Township, Pennsylvania resigned from her position on the board of supervisors after posting a TikTok video of herself repeating Elon Musk’s “salute.”

A Republican official in Pennsylvania has been forced to resign after posting her own version of Elon Musk’s highly evocative salute from Donald Trump’s inauguration. Towamencin Township Supervisor Laura Smith posted a TikTok video in which she hit her chest three times and extended her arm out in front of her,

The board said in a statement that it intends to accept Smith’s resignation at its next meeting, adding that it “cannot and will not tolerate such conduct.”
