McKay’s is inviting booklovers from all over to participate in their “Ultimate McKay’s Road Trip” to celebrate 50 years of business.

A crowd of 500 to 600 people snaked in a line from the store's entrance down to the road before McKay's shut things down at the Knoxville bookstore.

The trip spans 570 miles and included stops in Mebane, Winston-Salem, Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Nashville. McKay's gave out special passports to customers that would be stamped at each stop.
