Laura Shipp, 50, of Las Vegas, got separated from her son, who is described as the “light of her life,” when the shooting began at Route 91 Harvest country music festival on the Las Vegas Strip.

American Immigration Lawyers Association Nevada representative and Las Vegas immigration attorney Peter Ashman nominated Silva. Silva will receive the award in a ceremony Thursday in Washington, D.C.
