On Aug. 20, 1989, Lyle and Erik Menendez brutally murdered their parents, firing so many shots into them—to the point that Lyle returned to his car to reload his weapon—that their bodies were more or less mutilated.

Menéndez called its portrayals of his brother and him "vile and appalling" and deemed the series "disheartening slander."

Real-life Menendez brother, Erik, has weighed in on Ryan Murphy’s depiction of his past crimes in the new Netflix series, "Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.” In an online statement posted via his wife Tammi Menendez’s X account,

Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story has been condemned for its "dishonest portrayal" by the real Erik Menéndez.

This is per THR, reporting on a statement Menendez has issued through the social media account of his wife, Tammi. Asking “Is the truth not enough?” Menendez accuses Murphy of undermining “decades of progress in shedding light on childhood trauma” with the show,
