Lebanese health minister says the death toll from an Israeli airstrike on a Beirut suburb the day before has risen to 31, including seven women and three children.

With the death toll rising and rescuers still searching for people beneath the rubble, families were keeping a desperate watch over the site of an Israeli strike in Lebanon.

An Israeli airstrike hit a neighborhood in Beirut on Friday, killing at least eight people and wounding nearly 60 others, Lebanese health officials said, the first such Israeli attack on Lebanon’s capital in months.
