When the Chinese political situation gets tense, new animal memes proliferate on the Chinese internet.

Speaking with Collider, screenwriter Nicholas Stoller said Serkis' Animal Farm will be a "darkly comic" yet family-friendly animated tale that puts a modern spin on the classic political satire.

That is the premise of today’s Velshi Banned Book Club feature, one of the most salient political satires ever written: “Animal Farm” by George Orwell.
