James Gunn's "Superman" launches a revamped DC movie universe with a new Man of Steel. It works on both counts, thanks to star David Corenswet.

John Cena is back as the titular violent antihero in "Peacemaker" season two, despite the director James Gunn rebooting the DC universe.

The film, directed by DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn, kicks off the new DC Universe with the superhero. Superman sees David Corenswet ( Twisters, Pearl) as the title character and as Clark Kent, a reporter for The Daily Planet. The role has previously been played by Christopher Reeve, Henry Cavill, Brandon Routh and Tyler Hoechlin, among others.

James Gunn's reboot of the DC Universe kicks off with deep-cut superheros and a sensibility that captures the Silver Age version of the Man of Steel.

The best decision Gunn took for Superman was to not make it another origin story. Superman (David Corenswet) has been public in this world for three years and, what's more, Clark Kent is already with Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) and she knows who he really is.

A special fan screening of James Gunn's 'Superman', organised by Geek Culture and Warner Bros. Singapore, saw a turnout of 162 attendees.
