A 1-year-old girl died after being attacked by her family's pit bull in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, last week. CBS affiliate WRTF reported that the girl died on July 2 after being attacked by the dog in her home. Tuscarawas County Sheriff Orvis Campbell told the TV station that the girl's death "was instantaneous."

A 1-year-old Ohio girl is dead after a dog attack last week. Deputies from the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office were called to a home in Dover Township on July 2 for a reported dog attack, our CBS affiliate in Cleveland, WOIO, reported.

According to Tuscarawas County Sheriff Orvis Campbell, deputies were called to a home on Lake Road regarding a dog attack just before 6 p.m. on July 2. Campbell said in an initial 911 call, dispatchers couldn’t hear anyone, but they eventually connected with the mother during a second call, who said the family dog had killed her baby.
