The Patriots were torched by Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey on Saturday — just months after passing on the Georgia product in the 2024 NFL Draft. During April’s draft, New England, who was in the market for a wide receiver, had a shot to take McConkey with the 34th overall pick.

Rookie WR Ladd McConkey had two TD receptions and could have had a third if Justin Herbert didn’t overthrow him. After the second TD catch, McConkey walked over to the stands and called down his aunt and handed her the football.

Former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Ladd McConkey is the Los Angeles Chargers' all-time leading rookie receiver in receptions and receiving yards. McConkey has a team-high 77 receptions for 1,054 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.

McConkey was drafted in the second round (No. 34 overall) in the 2024 NFL Draft after the Chargers traded up a few slots to be able to take him. Not long after, it was envisioned that this could end up being the case for McConkey based on the projected amount of targets he would receive.
