A new resolution by members of the European Parliament (MEPs) calls for European Union countries to lift restrictions that prevent Ukraine from deploying Western weapons against military targets in Russia.

In a non-binding resolution on Thursday, the European Parliament passed a resolution urging member states to allow Ukraine to use its weapons to fire at targets inside of Russia while toughening sanct

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to visit Kyiv on Sept. 20 The European Parliament passed a resolution with 425 votes in favor, 131 against, and 63 abstentions, urging EU nations to lift restrictions on Ukraine’s use of Western weapons against military targets in Russia.

"If something like this happens, Russia will give a tough response using more powerful weapons," warned a prominent Russian lawmaker.

A close ally of President Vladimir Putin warned Western governments on Thursday that a nuclear war would ensue if they gave the green light for Ukraine to use long-range Western weapons to strike targets deep inside Russia.
