French investment firm Wendel has agreed to acquire a majority stake in private lender Monroe Capital for $1.13 billion to extend its reach to the booming private credit category.

French investment company Wendel will acquire U.S. asset investment firm Monroe Capital , it said on Tuesday, with an initial investment of $1.13 billion for 75% of the company's shares.
