MERIDIAN, Idaho — Take a drive on Interstate 84 through the heart of the Treasure Valley, and at least one thing — other than the traffic — will stand out: Development is booming.

The new legislative districts map that Idaho’s bipartisan redistricting commission created and approved represents an improvement over how Meridian is currently divided, Mayor Robert Simison said.

The Meridian ID City Council approved its new redistricting map ahead of the 2023 election. But before the election, the city must change two seat numbers.
