The museum contains a reconstruction of Zermatt in the 19th century, as it would have been on July 14, 1865, when a group of seven men summitted the Matterhorn for the first time.

But Zermatt is more than just the Matterhorn. In a handful of mountain huts with overnight accommodation, even less experienced mountaineers can get very close to the summits surrounding the town.
