Gov. Mike Braun is putting the responsibility for protecting Indiana's natural environment almost entirely in the hands of the federal government.

The first aligns Indiana’s environmental standards with federal regulations, including the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Safe Drinking Water Act. Under the order, the state will not adopt more stringent regulations than those set at the federal level. Braun said additional regulations can hinder economic growth in Indiana.
