I was just not expecting the turn. At first, I felt the story felt choppy, like a dream- that is where we got the first hint when Jake tells Finn something along the lines of leaving him behind again.

All Finn and Jake’s gold spills out, making them finally realize exactly how much cash they have (also, the ancient, psychic, tandem war-elephant is there, from like, forever ago).

Now, on the Islands miniseries, which follows Susan, Finn, Jake, and BMO as they look for the rest of the world’s humans, we finally know where Susan came from. It’s a sad story.
