Stock futures lost ground Thursday morning ahead of the release of closely watched economic indicators, one day after major indexes posted their first gains of the week following a better-than-expected report on inflation.

Dow Jones futures rose overnight, along with S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq futures, as Senate Democrats signaled they won't block a vote on a GOP spending bill, making a U.S. government shutdown unlikely.

U.S. stock futures trimmed an earlier decline on Thursday following the release of the latest inflation report, which was much cooler than expected. Headline PPI Index showed wholesale prices were unchanged in February.
