CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Two of West Side Market’s longtime tenants, Dohar Meats and Cake Royale, have closed up shop at the historic Ohio City building.
The coronavirus pandemic has made matters worse. The West Side Market is a landmark in the city but recently has lost some longtime vendors, including two in January, Cake Royale and Dohar Meats.
Cake Royale also closed shop at West Side Market after 16 years, citing a steady decrease in business over the years that was accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cake Royale still has a location on Pearl Road in Cleveland. In June, Pinzone’s Market Fresh left the West Side Market after 44 years. Turczyk’s Meats closed in December 2019.
Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb will be joined by several city and state officials to honor the West Side Market ’s 110th anniversary.
