'Aladdin and the King of Thieves' is one of many older Disney titles about to enjoy a resurgence on streaming with Disney+. We revisit what makes it great.

After spending the past 10 years locked in a Disney bottle, "Aladdin" (and Genie) will become part of a whole new homevideo world on Oct. 5, when the Disney toon makes its debut on DVD.

When Aladdin wished to be a prince, Genie not only dressed him up, but made his father the infamous King of Thieves. This in turn made Aladdin the prince he desired to be.

But Aladdin eventually learns that his father is in fact alive and is the King of the 40 Thieves, and, with the help of the Genie, he must free him so they can reunite as a family.

The King of Thieves, which brought Robin Williams back after fences were mended, concerned Aladdin discovering that his presumed dead father was still alive and still stealing stuff.

Weinger has continued to voice Aladdin for several Disney animated films including Mickey’s House of Villains, Aladdin and the King of Thieves and more.
