A runaway kangaroo temporarily shut down a portion of an interstate highway in Alabama on Tuesday as state troopers and the animal’s owner attempted to remove it from harm’s way.

It was a chaotic scene along Interstate 85 in Central Alabama on Tuesday, after reports of a kangaroo causing traffic problems was received by dispatchers. After at least one crash, the highway was briefly closed so that authorities could capture the animal.
