While big church can be a place for people to check out God at a safe distance, Highlands doesn’t want visitors to feel like they have to join its programs in order to connect with Christ.

An even smaller 10 percent believe themselves to be “excellent” at talking about faith with people. In many cases, the reason pastors struggle to lead effective outreach is not an issue of belief.

Almost every church (89%) projects lyrics on a screen, while two-thirds of churches (65%) said they never use hymnals. One in five said women were not allowed to lead worship singing.
