On February 5th, 2025, Robert De Niro was announced as the first cast member. The Academy Award- winning actor recently starred in Netflix’s political thriller Zero Day and previously starred in Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman on Netflix.

“ The Whisper Man ” is based on the bestselling 2019 novel by Alex North about a widowed crime writer whose young son is abducted. When he asks his retired police detective father for help, he finds a link to the old case of a serial killer called The Whisper Man.

“The Whisper Man” was first reported with De Niro starring in February 2025. James Ashcroft (“The Rule of Jenny Pen,” “Coming Home in the Dark”) will direct the film, with Ben Jacoby (“The First Omen”) and Chase Palmer (“It”) adapting the script.
