Governor Abbott activates Texas emergency response resources ahead of severe weather and potential flash flooding.

Forecasters warn that slow-moving storms could bring heavy downpours to already saturated areas, increasing the risk of flash flooding.

During a press conference today, Congressman Al Green remarked on a letter by Department of Justice warning Texas that certain districts are products of "racial gerrymandering" and thus must be redrawn.

Scattered thunderstorms are ongoing this evening for parts of North Texas. This activity is expected to continue overnight and throughout Sunday. While not a washout for the area, where storms do set up, they are carrying abundant moisture, leading to rain rates as high as 2" per hour in some spots.

The early warnings and alerts from the National Weather Service didn’t indicate a catastrophic flood was on its way.
