French military technology is being used in Sudan's brutal civil war in violation of a UN arms embargo, rights organisation Amnesty International has said. It says the Rapid Support Forces militia is using vehicles supplied by the United Arab Emirates fitted with the system in the Darfur region as it battles the army.

The U.N. political chief has accused allies of Sudan’s warring military and paramilitary forces of “enabling the slaughter” that has killed more than 24,000 people and created the world’s worst displacement crisis.
