According to the press release, the tech uses Samsung Vision AI food recognition technology to identify what you have in your fridge and determine what you’re running low on. Then, using Instacart’s product matching API, it suggests items from the service you might need and lets you order them from the fridge.

Samsung has announced a multi-year partnership with online grocery delivery service Instacart, aiming to bring seamless and convenient grocery shopping directly to your kitchen.

Samsung’s AI Vision Inside technology keeps track of what’s in your fridge using internal cameras. Paired with Instacart’s product-matching system, it can suggest what you need to replenish and let you place an order with a few taps. You’ll be able to browse your grocery list right on the fridge’s touchscreen and have items delivered the same day.
