England won the toss and will bat first in the third test against India at Lord's on Thursday under sunny skies at the home of cricket and conditions that should favour the batsmen.

In the Lord’s museum this morning, the MCC unveiled this new portrait of Sachin Tendulkar. The artist is Stuart Pearson-Wright, and he is almost as nattily dressed as Ravi Shastri is today. Tendulkar, who has a place locally, will be ringing the five-minute bell as well.
