Dangerous wildfires are burning Monday on the East and West coasts, with firefighters in New York and New Jersey working to contain a deadly blaze spurred by an ongoing, historic drought – while strong winds in Southern California could fan a destructive fire in Ventura County.

RINGWOOD, N.J. (AP) — Fire crews battled small wildfires across the Northeast U.S. on Monday, including a blaze in New York and New Jersey that killed a parks employee over the weekend and postponed Veterans Day plans.

From New Jersey to California, wildfires are continuing to rage on both coasts and despite current weather conditions offering some relief, the situation is far from over. NBC News’ George Solis and Michelle Grossman report on the latest efforts by firefighters to stop the wildfires.
