We were coming from the direction of Flagstaff towards Las Vegas on the i-93. Unless we missed the access road somehow it looks like (on Google maps) that the only way in is to go past the Hoover Da…Full review by LAW64

We didn’t stop long and it was an extremely hot day, but this experience was just okay for us. It was cool to see the dam, but other experiences would be more engaging for teenagers.Full review by GlobeTrotterNL1

Given it's closed on thanksgiving day; is there any other "un-official" way we can we view it? Or what else would you suggest that may be open to experience it on thanksgiving day? (or other options along the way from LV to Sedona)

How early do the Full Tour tickets sell out? The website says they are first-come/first-served, on-site/in-person only. No online.
A:
What we saw was that most people dont actually take the tour so a big queue was not really an issue to get tickets.

What is the best Inside Dam Tour if I am driving in my own car? I am not able to do the whole Bus thing from Vegas
A:
Mid morning is a great time. Parking in the garage on Nevada side is $10. There is free parking on Arizona side if you don’t mind walking.

The Grand Canyon is such an enormous space that planning is very important. So, of course, the Hoover Dam could be part of a circle tour or more importantly, a focus of a particular rim of the Grand Canyon. Depending on when you visit the park, the crowds can be overwhelming. One particular venue that we wanted to do is to take the train to the canyon from Williams, AZ. So, geographically, the Hoover Dam is just beyond the far Northwest corner of the Canyon. Incidentally, planning food is important when you depart the Canyon park and head for the Dam. Food near the Dam is limited and the food at the Dam is expensive and some of the interior services at the Dam are closed (as of April, I believe the Gift Shop and tours were not open). We visited the Dam just before sunset (careful; it closes at dusk) and found it to be gorgeous. The Pat Tillman Bridge Lookout also closes at dusk. All sights are best seen early in the morning as crowds are less and parking is more a available, but you would have to stay up by the Dam to accomplish this. We would recommend doing the Western Rim as early as you can get there and then do a late afternoon at the Dam. Check the sunset time at Boulder City, Nevada in order to budget a couple hours at the Dam and on the Tillman Bridge Overlook. Carry snack food with you to minimize expense and prevent wasting lots of time looking for food. What a beautiful trip you are going to Sonoma, the Grand Canyon, and the Hoover Dam are some of the most awesome places in the world.
Q:
Any idea when the Hoover Dam will reopen?
A:
No, your guess is as good as mine. I just checked the web site and the site made it clear that there is no forseeable opening date.
