Good afternoon, it is quite a long walk from the car park, out through the courtyard (where the shop/ ticket collection) is. If you were a bit dodgy on your pins or have trouble with your mobility, you'd probably need a chair or at least some assistance to the house. However, it is a very nice walk. Hope this helps.

When you arrive in the car park you can't just wander around but once through the main courtyard reception area you are free to roam around. You will have been given a tour time start but if I were you I would make the most of the day and enjoy all that Castle How's and it's hounds hold. The Boathouse by the lake is worth a visit
